Corporate has only offered 10% cost share for a new engine. After the tow to the dealership, the mechanic notified me that the entire engine needs to be replaced, quoting me between $2300 for a used engine and $6500 for a new one. I had to wait outside to direct traffic so that I would not get hit. It was 9 degrees outside with snow on the ground, and the heat stopped working in the vehicle, too. I coasted off the highway as quickly as I could, stopped at the multi-lane intersection, and the vehicle completely shut off. The vehicle's RPM reduced suddenly and drastically, and I was only able to sustain 40mph. I was on the interstate with morning traffic that was going 70mph (the speed limit) and higher. While driving back an appointment this morning, the vehicle began to sputter and the "engine reduced power"/"service stabilitrak system" lights turned on. I own a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox ls AWD with roughly 86,000 miles. ![]() If need proof of receipts I can fax those. I have already filed with the BBB and will be speaking with state attorney general as well. GM needs to recall this vehicle because of all the issues I have had and still continue to have and provide me with a safer vehicle. So I hate driving this car even to work let alone with my children because I don't know when it will stop again and cause me to wreck or get hit or even the fumes causing problems which they don't need to inhale. I have all my receipts as well as all the research I have done and even the dealer keeps giving me the run around with everything wrong with it and says it's something different all the time just to try and get more money and still having to take it in the shop but this time was told oh it's not safe to drive but yet tried to say it was the tires this time which it wasn't because there is brand new tires on it. With all the complaints online and they still won't recall the vehicle and be concerned for the safety of the customer. I have contacted GM numerous times because I do not feel safe with me nor my children in this car. From the oil consumption and still having problems and even smells like burning causing odor which is very strong, stalling issues where my car has even stopped in the middle of the highway after a new engine was put in, the engine ticking still does and stalling even with new engine put in have video of the sounds it makes that they can't seem to figure out what's going on after all this time and the clattering noise when the car is started. I have all the receipts as well as research that GM needs to recall this vehicle due to safety issues and everyone has the same problem as myself. I have been through five mechanics trying to solve this issue and it is becoming a nightmare not even the dealership could figure it out.Įver since I have bought this vehicle it is a lemon. So while they thought that that was the cause of the problem and it looked possible with a condition it was in every time we would think that we have solved the problem until the next day when I try to drive my vehicle and it does the same thing. ![]() While trying to find the cause of the problem mechanics have found parts that were years past due of needing replacing. It seems to not like when I idle or drive slow when I'm on the freeway I have to make sure I'm driving fast the gas pedal keeps throttle if I drive too slow it's a risk for it to starting to shake and shut down again. I will lose throttle in the gas pedal and it will just turn off out of nowhere while I'm driving away from my home. I have poured money into fixing the vehicle and spent the last two 3 years trying to fix the original issue of it shutting down. Shortly after I financed the vehicle it started having issues while idling, if I idle too long it will start to shake and will shut down.
